The main advantage of a mechanical roll feed is that it always remains in sequence with the press as it is typically driven by a P.T.O shaft on the press. Mechanical roll feeding is also a very reliable, quiet and economical method of feeding strip into the press.

The disadvantage of a mechanical roll feed is that it is limited in pitch length and it can be difficult to set pitch length quickly compared to other feeding methods. In this case, a Servo NC Roll Feed is more suitable.
